ImAc Project

It is a must to provide access to information and entertainment for people with sensorial disabilities, this includes the emerging field of VR and 360° media.
“The key action in ImAc will be to ensure immersive experiences are inclusive across different languages, addressing the needs of those with hearing and low vision problems, learning difficulties and the aged.” (www.imac-project.eu)”

The Innovation Projects at RBB (Rundfunk Berlin Brandenburg) are part of the ImAc project, which is funded by the European Union in the frame of the H2020 programme.
The aim of the project is to develop a technical platform that enables the enrichment, distribution and playback of 360° video content with subtitles, sign language, audio description and audio subtitles. To this end, project partners are developing tailor-made tools and researching methods for distribution and playback of immersive content via broadcast and the internet.

“As the amount of immersive 360° video and VR content steadily increases, so does the variety of devices upon which to consume it. In the ImAc project we are researching ways of enhancing the accessibility of such immersive media content. Thus users are of particular relevance to this project, and are deeply involved in providing feedback and requirements.”
